I’m Sherry Yin, a reliability engineer based in Singapore.
I’ve spent more than a decade working with databases and large-scale internet systems. Over the years, my work has expanded from database engineering into distributed systems, high availability, disaster recovery, capacity engineering, and reliability at scale.
I’m fascinated by how systems fail — what happens when a dependency slows down, a network gets partitioned, a datacenter disappears, capacity runs out, or a seemingly harmless change goes wrong.
This site is where I write about those problems and the lessons behind them: databases, distributed systems, reliability, resilience, and operating complex systems in the real world.
